Jaipur Carpet Studio is a third-generation handmade rug manufacturer based in Jaipur, Rajasthan — the carpet capital of India. Our family’s journey began with Ustad Bashir Khan, whose mastery of hand knotting laid the foundation for a legacy that continues today through Gafur Khan and now his sons, Shahid and Jahid Khan.
We specialize in four construction techniques that define the world’s finest floor coverings:
- Hand Knotted Rugs — Our signature craft. Each knot is tied individually by hand, producing carpets with 200–400+ KPSI (knots per square inch). A single rug can take 3 to 12 months to complete. These are heirloom-quality pieces designed to last 50–100 years.
- Hand Tufted Rugs — Crafted using a tufting gun guided by skilled artisans, offering rich texture and beautiful designs at a more accessible price point. Ideal for hospitality projects and bulk orders.
- Flat Weave Rugs — Lightweight, durable, and reversible. Our flatweave collection includes traditional dhurries and kilim-style carpets, perfect for high-traffic areas and layering.
- Hand Loom Rugs — Woven on traditional handlooms, these rugs offer beautiful texture with faster production times — making them ideal for large wholesale orders.
Premium Materials — Wool, Silk & Natural Fibers
Every rug in our collection is crafted from carefully sourced natural materials. We work primarily with New Zealand and Indian wool — known for its durability, natural stain resistance, and soft hand-feel. For our luxury collection, we use pure Bangalore silk, which produces an extraordinary luminous sheen and allows for incredibly fine detail — up to 400+ knots per square inch.
Our wool-silk blends offer the best of both worlds: the durability of wool with the sheen of silk. We also offer Afghan wool and vintage-style carpets — overdyed and distressed designs that are currently in high demand across the USA and European markets.
All dyes used are AZO-free and chrome-free, ensuring our rugs are safe for homes with children and pets, and meet international export standards for the USA, UK, EU, and beyond.
